But the real showstopper was the bathtub – a stunning, free-standing claw-foot tub that we transformed into a mermaid’s tail, complete with a scale-patterned finish and a whimsical, seashell-inspired faucet. The look on Emily’s face when she first saw her “mermaid tub” was absolutely priceless. It was like we had unlocked the door to her own personal underwater kingdom.
Practical Functionality, Whimsical Design
Of course, as much as we love to embrace the imaginative spirit, we also know that a bathroom needs to be functional and practical. That’s why we always strive to strike the perfect balance between form and function.
Take, for example, the bathroom we designed for the Smith family. Their son, Liam, was obsessed with all things outer space, so we knew we had to create a truly out-of-this-world experience. We started by covering the walls in a deep, galactic blue, and then added custom-built vanities that looked like they were straight out of a NASA control room.
But the real pièce de résistance was the shower – a massive, walk-in enclosure that we transformed into a virtual planetarium, complete with glowing, star-like tiles and a high-tech lighting system that projected a dazzling array of planets and constellations. And to ensure that Liam could reach everything he needed, we custom-built a step stool that looked like a miniature rocket ship.
The result? A bathroom that was not only visually stunning, but also incredibly practical and user-friendly for a growing child.
Fostering Independence and Confidence
But it’s not just about creating a beautiful space. When we design kids’ bathrooms, we also think a lot about how to foster a sense of independence and confidence in our young clients.
Take, for example, the bathroom we designed for the Singh family. Their daughter, Priya, was just starting to learn how to do things on her own, so we wanted to create a space that would empower her and make her feel capable.
We started by installing a custom-built vanity that was the perfect height for Priya, complete with a built-in step stool and easy-to-reach storage compartments. We also added a large, wall-mounted mirror that was positioned at her eye level, so she could easily see herself while brushing her teeth or washing her face.
But the real piece de resistance was the shower – a walk-in enclosure with a built-in bench and a handheld shower head that was adjustable to Priya’s height. This allowed her to easily wash herself without needing any help from her parents.
The result? A bathroom that not only looked amazing, but also gave Priya a sense of pride and accomplishment every time she used it. And for a parent, there’s nothing quite as rewarding as watching your child blossom with confidence and independence.
Designing for the Whole Family
Of course, as much as we love to focus on the kids, we also know that bathrooms need to work for the whole family. That’s why we always take the time to understand the unique needs and preferences of each household.
Take, for example, the bathroom we designed for the Johnsons. They had two young kids, but they also had a grandparent living with them who needed extra accessibility features.
We started by installing a large, walk-in shower with built-in benches and grab bars to make it easy for the grandparent to use. We also added a custom-built vanity that was the perfect height for both the kids and the grandparent, with plenty of storage space for everyone’s toiletries.
But the real showstopper was the bathtub – a stunning, free-standing tub that was not only beautiful to look at, but also incredibly practical. We designed a special step stool that could be easily moved in and out of the tub, making it accessible for both the kids and the grandparent.
The result? A bathroom that was not only visually stunning, but also incredibly functional and inclusive for the entire family.
