Transforming a Rental into a Cozy Sanctuary
When my husband and I decided to relocate from Phoenix to Tucson, we knew we were in for a significant life change. Selling our beloved family home was bittersweet, but the prospect of starting fresh in a new city filled us with excitement. Little did we know, we’d end up calling an apartment in Aberdeen, UK our temporary home for the next year.
As a self-proclaimed home decor enthusiast, the thought of decorating a rental property initially filled me with a sense of dread. How could I possibly make this modern, impersonal space feel like a warm, inviting haven? But after some trial and error, I discovered numerous ways to infuse our rental with personality and make it feel like a true home.
Embracing the Blank Canvas
Let’s be honest – renting can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it offers the flexibility to explore new locations without the long-term commitment of homeownership. But on the other, it means working within the confines of someone else’s design choices.
